Stook 5k Dash

The Route

Set over rolling and scenic landscape, the 5k dash is designed to be buggy and walker friendly yet offer an honest challenge to joggers and runners of all ages and abilities.

Leaving the village of Dungarvan on the Thomastown road, the route incorporates 800m of main road. During this time it is important to stay on the hard shoulder / left hand side of the road and obey the traffic marshals.

After 800m, the course turns left down a side road / boreen that offers a gentle drop in elevation – this will help your legs turn over quickly and get you on target pace. After approximately another mile, the first of the gentle climbs come into play as the road sweeps through farmland.

At the highpoint of the course the route tracks along the side of Stook hill before meeting back up with the Stook 10 mile course with approximately 1 mile to go. There is a small sting in the tail with a sharp little hill here but with a downhill finish to come there is a chance to turn on the after burners and finish in style.

The finish line is within the grounds of Dungarvan Hall, and like all finishers you will receive a well earned finishers medal before refuelling with refreshments as we cheer on the 300 or so runners in the 10 mile race.
